Research area
Dr. Ivana Trbojević conducts research in the scientific field of Algology and her work to date includes the study of various aspects of algal communities in periphyton, phytobenthos, phytoplankton, as well as in biofilms in cave ecosystems. Her work emphasizes research on vertebrates, with an emphasis on the taxonomy, ecology, biogeography and phylogeny of these macroscopic green algae, including the aspect of species protection and their habitats. Dr. Ivana Trbojević was among the first to begin conducting molecular research on vertebrates in Serbia. Dr. Ivana Trbojević conducts research on vertebrate diversity primarily in small and shallow freshwater ecosystems, both in vegetation and in the diaspora bank in sediment. Given that the reproductive structures of vertebrates are significantly represented in the diaspora bank in sediment and retain viability for a long time, the goals of this research are focused on assessing the potential for revitalizing vertebrate diversity and their disturbed habitats.
