Study program Molecular Biology

Withdrawal

The doctoral study program in Molecular Biology carries a total of 180 ECTS credits, lasts 3 years and includes two modules: Molecular biology и Physiology. Two compulsory courses are organized that are unique to the study program and related to the preparation of a doctoral dissertation, five compulsory seminars and work on the preparation of a doctoral dissertation. For each module, a larger number of elective courses are organized that are organized into a single elective block for the module. The Molecular Biology module contains three submodules, while the Physiology module contains five submodules. For each submodule, one compulsory course is defined that the student attends during the first year of study. Each student acquires 45 ECTS from elective courses during the course of study, of which 9 ECTS are for the compulsory elective course for a given submodule.

The program is implemented through: (1) active teaching that includes lectures, other forms of interactive theoretical teaching and study research work (experimental work in the laboratory organized in the form of "rotation", seminars, experimental preparation of a doctoral dissertation) and (2) individual work of students.

Monitoring the implementation of the program is the responsibility of the submodule manager and the Doctoral Studies Commission. This body is chaired by the study program manager and consists of the managers of all submodules. The leading teacher is responsible for organizing teaching within his/her subject. As a rule, the leading teacher engages, upon invitation, several lecturers from the country and abroad, each of whom implements that part of the program of a given subject for which he/she is scientifically competent. The program also engages guest lecturers from abroad.

Each student's doctoral dissertation is supervised by mentors and tutors from the faculty. Their role is to constantly monitor the student's progress, advise them on the choice of subjects, and assist in the implementation of their research programs.
