Center for Pathogen Biocontrol and Plant Growth Promotion

The Center for Biocontrol of Pathogens and Plant Growth Promotion (BIOPROMO) was established in 2022 with the aim of bringing together researchers from the Faculty of Biology into a group that will contribute to meeting the global goals of reducing environmental pollution, preserving diversity, and combating climate change. Our expertise lies in the use of microorganisms as a replacement for chemical pesticides and artificial fertilizers in sustainable agriculture, on the path to fulfilling the concept of "one health".

Our many years of experience in studying the diversity and function of microbiomes in different environments give us the confidence to begin to elucidate at least some aspects of the connection between the soil, plant, and human microbiomes and to use these results in practice. We have set ourselves the challenges of research and application of microorganisms in solving some of today's global problems, as well as knowledge transfer and communication to the wider community.

The Center monitors modern scientific achievements in the design and use of biological products, offering potential users the possibility of a personalized approach. The Center's ambition is to position itself in the competent bodies for the evaluation of microorganism-based products and to contribute to the development of standards and legislation related to the production and use of biological products.

We believe it is our duty to provide continuous education to farmers through advisory services and domestic companies producing biological products. The achievement of the set goals should contribute to the development of the BIOPROMO Center into a Center of Excellence.
