The Faculty of Biology celebrated its 170th anniversary in 2023. Today, the faculty consists of three institutes, with 14 departments and 16 centers, and many of our students are established scientists at the most famous universities and scientific centers around the world.
Today, modern and recognizable, the Faculty of Biology of the University of Belgrade proudly celebrates a significant anniversary. Founded on a rich past, we have been building a better future continuously for 170 years.
The Faculty of Biology is the oldest and largest higher education and scientific institution in Serbia in the fields of biology, molecular biology, physiology, ecology and environmental protection – in 2023 it celebrated its 170th anniversary.
The Faculty consists of three institutes with 14 departments and 16 centers. Currently, the Faculty of Biology employs 114 teachers and associates, as well as 110 researchers, while the number of active students is more than two thousand.
BIO4 Campus is a future educational and scientific research center that will concentrate all the most important human and scientific resources that our country possesses in four areas - BIOmedicine, BIOtechnology, BIOinformatics and BIOdiversity.
The Faculty of Biology maintains rich mutual cooperation with universities and other institutions in Serbia, the region, and the entire world. The Faculty also strives to connect with leading companies in the field of biology and related sciences.
